DIRECTIONS: Please review the following materials before auditioning for The Laramie Project.
Please note: We will be holding both in-person and virtual auditions for this show, as we recognize that schedules may not allow everyone to come and audition during our chosen times. The requirements for each type of audition have been included in the links below; please be sure to review all provided information prior to your audition.
About the show:
Cast size: 8-15
Place: Laramie, Wyoming
Structure: The play’s 67 roles are played by a small cast of actors, each of whom assumes multiple roles. The play is divided into three acts.
Background: In the fall of 1998, Matthew Shepard, a gay college student, was brutally murdered in Laramie, Wyoming. The Laramie Project was inspired by that murder - the environment that led to it, as well as its impact on the community. The play was written over a year and a half period, during which members of the Tectonic Theater Project company traveled to Laramie to conduct interviews with people of the town. The script was created and edited based on those interviews.
